Music Foundations Program Details
VCC's Music Foundations Program provides remedial skills in theory (Basic Theory 1003), ear training and aural skills (Kodaly Solfège 1001), piano (Class Piano 1053) and Digital and Analog Tools (DATs 119), an introduction to music/computer skills. Please note that Class Piano 1053 is only available in the fall and spring terms, and DATs 119 only in the fall term. Basic Theory 1003 and Solfege 1001 are offered 3 times a year: Sept - Dec, Jan - Apr, and June - Aug (condensed, combined format).
These courses are ideal for students planning to enter the full-time program or for those interested in developing and improving their basic musical skills.
Registration
Registration in Basic Theory 1003 or Solfege 1001 for the spring 2010 term starts on December 7, 2009 and continues through the first week of classes, until January 8, 2010.

Registration takes place in person through the music office, room 3205 at the Broadway campus. The music office is open from M-F, 9:30-12 and 2-4.

Class Piano 1053 and DATs 119 are both subject to waitlists for part-time students. To add your name to the waitlist for any part-time course, please send an email to music@vcc.ca on or after December 1, 2009. Absolutely no names will be taken prior to December 1.

Schedule and Costs

Basic Theory 1003 is offered on Tuesdays and Thurdays from 5:30-7:30 PM, and Kodaly Solfège 1001 will run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-7 PM.

Class Piano 1053 and DATs 119 have multiple sections and times vary. Please refer to the Student Resources page for the spring 2010 timetable.
